JOB DESCRIPTION

 

 

TITLE: SCHOOL AGE CHILD CARE (SACC) PROGRAM DIRECTOR

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  1. Have the personal qualities and the ability to relate well with parents, staff, outside agencies, and the community in which the children live.

 

  1. Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field with at least two years experience working with school age children in a teaching capacity.  

 

  1. Effective oral and written communication skills and abilities.

 

  1. Computer proficiency skills in MS office.

 

  1. Flexible schedule to meet the operational needs of the program. 

 

  1. Demonstrate flexibility, self-direction and attention to detail in prioritizing and completing task assignments.

 

  1. Ability to have reliable transportation to travel to all Square One facilities and school age program sites.

 

  1. Must successfully complete DEEC requirement for CORI application/DSS backgrounds screening.

 

  1. Must possess and maintain valid First Aid and CPR certifications.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Visit school age program sites regularly to confer with staff regarding enrollment, behavior management, licensing paperwork, and curriculum development.

 

  1. Responsible for obtaining and maintaining DEEC licensing paperwork for school age programs.

 

  1. Act as a liaison with Springfield Public Schools to obtain permits for use of school property.

 

  1. Conduct observations, professional development training and mentoring of SACC staff.  Participate and share best practices and new trends in the field to assist in program planning and weekly staff meetings.  

 

  1. Select, employ, supervise, evaluate, and, when necessary, dismiss professional and clerical staff in consultation with other appropriate supervisory personnel (Assistant Vice President of Programs, Vice President of Human Resources).

 

  1. Coordinate enrollment with FSC staff and Site Coordinators.  Update and maintain accurate program rosters and enrollment paperwork for sites to comply with DEEC and meet required deadlines.  Handle and maintain private and confidential paperwork and appropriately store information electronically or manually as directed.

 

  1. See that positive relationships are established and maintained with parents.

 

  1. Oversee and monitor the schedule of parent conferences to meet EEC compliance standards.  Available for conferences with parents, as needed.

 

  1. Attend conferences, workshops, seminars; visit other programs.

 

  1. Attend community events to promote school age programs.  Develop promotional materials and work with the Advancement Department to advertise and market school age programs. 

 

  1. Assist with program development and implementation for grant funded projects.

 

  1. Supervise or carry out all purchasing of supplies and equipment in consultation with other appropriate program personnel.

 

  1. Serve as a backup to the Assistant Vice President of Programs in her or his absence.  In emergency situations, provide staff coverage at SACC programs.   

 

  1. Conduct regular staff meetings and also meet with the Assistant Vice President of Programs to plan and evaluate program needs.

 

  1. Other duties as assigned.
