JOB DESCRIPTION

 

 

Title: Part tIME Temporary General Laborer

 

Qualifications:

 

1.      Must be 18 years of age or older and possess current Massachusetts Drivers license.

2.      High School Diploma or GED is required.

3.      Previous work experience performing heavy labor with a dependable work record.

4.      Reliable transportation is necessary as traveling to and from Square One sites and destinations is a requirement of the job.    

5.      Ability to operate hand landscaping tools and other lawn care equipment successfully.

6.      Ability to handle heavy lifting (50lbs or over) as needed.   

7.      Able to perform basic math functions with the ability to read and write and follow directions, strong attention to detail is necessary.   

8.      Able to read and understand measurements.

9.      Ability to work independently as well as a part of a team.

10.    Strong ability to multi-task.

 

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

 

Performs a wide variety of duties and responsibilities in the facilities maintenance department for Square One properties and associated facilities ranging from loading and unloading items, picking up items, putting items together or dissembling items.  Performs heavy manual labor in most job duties and responsibilities.     

 

·         Operates ground keeping lawn equipment. 

·         Perform lawn mowing, raking, edging and trimming, weeding tasks and general upkeep of the grounds and parking lot as required. 

·         Assist with snow removal and cleaning of walkways and parking lots as needed.  

·         Perform safety duties for Square One facilities including, picking up waste products, glass, or any other hazardous debris to promote and enhance safety for staff, children and families.      

·         Assist in accomplishing duties of building maintenance, painting and other general repairs.

·         Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

a.       Lower body strength to stand and walk throughout day or push lawn care equipment.

b.      Ability to lift 50 pounds or more and carry heavy loads using material handling equipment.

c.       Climb various ladders as required. 

d.      Be alert at all times and perform all duties in a prudent and safe manner.

ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

1.      Moderate exposure to weather extremes. 

2.      Exposure to various airborne particles such as grass, pollen, sawdust, insulation, abrasives.
