Job Description

 

Job Title:  Caring and Relating Education (CARE) Program Coordinator

 

Qualifications:

 

Summary:

The primary role of the Caring and Relating Education (CARE) Program Coordinator is to successfully lead the implementation of the new CARE program for homeless children attending Springfield Public Schools.   CARE is a collaborative effort with the Springfield Public Schools (SPS), and the CARE Program Coordinator will have to work effectively with the person designated by SPS as their Program Director to ensure the delivery of all program elements and program assessments.

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

 

·         Work with Square One staff to coordinate the hiring of three facilitators for the Go FIT fitness and healthy living programming.

 

·         Recruit college and high school student interns to assist in delivery of program components, primarily academic coaching and assistance with delivery of Go FIT fitness and healthy living programming.

 

·         Coordinate all necessary BRC checks for program staff, interns and volunteers and work with Square One’s Hiring Specialist as needed.

 

·         Work with the SPS Program Director to recruit homeless children to participate yearly, approximately half of the children will come from Holyoke and the other half will come from Springfield, with additional children if Square One and SPS agree to expand the program.

 

·         Work with the SPS Program Director to ensure that a SPS Mental Health Counselor is available for the homeless children at the program site during each program session.

 

·         Work in coordination with the SPS Program Director to ensure appropriate food and/or snacks are available at each program session.   

 

·         Work with the SPS Program Director to ensure that accessible bus transportation and or public transportation is provided for homeless students who live in Holyoke and Springfield homeless facilities.

 

·         Work with Square One staff and the SPS Program Director to oversee purchasing of  educational materials and supplies, including materials for the program’s Literacy Backpacks and literacy incentive items for the children.

 

·         Work with the CARE program’s SPS identified Teachers to keep maintain, track and monitor attendance records of each program session.

 

·         Work with the SPS Program Director, Square One staff, CARE staff, and CARE volunteers to ensure delivery of health and wellness information, information about SPS’s Parent and Community Engagement workshops, information about Square One’s Parenting Works program, and information about other resources is made available to the homeless children’s parents or caregivers

 

·         Create, prepare and develop reports to assess the program results and analyze the evaluations.  

 

·         Coordinate with SPS to engage two UMASS masters-level students, program staff, volunteers, and participants to conduct program evaluations.

 

·         Assist in recruiting and coordinating with other program collaborators as needed.

 

·         Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
